First prize in Europe as an accessible and inclusive campsite
ADAC, the most important automobile club in Europe with 21 million members, awards a series of recognitions each year to the best campsites in the European continent. These are the famous ADAC Camping Awards!
We at the Florenz Open Air Resort were the only Italian campsite awarded in January 2023 in Stuttgart during the industry trade fair (CTM). It was a moment of immense pride for our entire community and the Vitali family, who have been investing in the village with great enthusiasm and passion for years.
ADAC awarded the Florenz Open Air Resort the first prize in the category “Demographic Change and Accessibility”, culminating a journey that began in 2006. Through the consultancy of Village for All, we pursued the elimination of all barriers within the village for people with motor disabilities and created 37 accessible houses, including some suites directly on the beach. From the beach to the pool, from accommodations to restaurants, the usability of the spaces is guaranteed for everyone.
In 2022, this project was enriched with the implementation of measures for people with visual disabilities: the village has equipped itself with tactile maps and informational material in Braille.
In Europe, the demand for accessible tourism far exceeds the supply and Florenz seized this opportunity with dual value: both ethical-social and economic, with the future goal of meeting every type of disability and creating a fully accessible and inclusive business.
