Palmidina Rocca's Centenary: A Life Dedicated to Tourism and Community
On March 28, 2026, our resort will celebrate a special anniversary: the centenary of the birth of Palmidina Rocca, who passed away in 2018 at the age of 92. She was a key figure in tourism and the growth of seaside resorts on the Comacchio coast.
Born into a family deeply rooted in the entrepreneurial life of Lido di Pomposa, Palmidina Rocca is remembered as one of the pioneers of tourism in the region. Together with her husband, Giordano Vitali, she made a decisive contribution to the development of the then nascent seaside tourism industry, managing businesses that became symbols of hospitality, such as the "Rocca's" restaurant and the management of historic accommodation facilities. Her work, imbued with dedication and a smile, left an indelible mark on the hearts of thousands of guests, transforming occasional customers into lifelong friends.
She is celebrated not only for her entrepreneurial spirit, but also for her ability to create authentic human relationships: for many visitors, their stay was not just a vacation, but a shared experience, where every smile and every request was met with warmth and kindness.
To mark the centenary, the Florenz Open Air Resort is organizing a commemorative day event. It will be a gathering to celebrate the life, legacy, and values of Palmidina Rocca, retracing the history of an era of great excitement and transformation for Italian tourism. The detailed program will be announced later, with cultural and convivial initiatives designed to pay homage to her memory.
